Last week’s $1 billion purchase of Odyssey Healthcare (ODSY) by Gentiva Health Services (GTIV) is going to shake up several industries according to Investors Business Daily.

Marie Hulbert, now 78, made her first monthly payment of $98.62 on her long-term care policy in November 1989. The Carmichael resident pays $160.83 now, but she’s been notified it will go up a whopping 145 percent over the next four years to $721 a month in mid-2014.
