Kentucky is yet another state to jump on board with the long term care insurance partnerships programs. The Bill (HB 259) was signed into law on April 9, 2008 by the Governor.

The quote as given by the local news website wymtnews.com quoted the Governor as saying:

“No longer will the elderly who have worked all their lives to have a home and some money saved be forced to lose all of those assets in order to access long-term care,” said Gov. Beshear. “This bill is a significant step in helping consumers plan their retirement with more confidence in their long-term financial viability.”

Not sure if the Governor understands the whole situation. Getting this partnership on the Kentucky books is just the first step – there is still a lot of work to be done by the state to make its citizens aware of the partnership and educate the public. I couldn’t even find a website for the state of Kentucky on the issue of Long Term Care insurance.

Baby steps, I guess…
